Cultivator Spotlight: John Guest

Cultivator Spotlight: John Guest

John Guest, the lead cultivator from Guest Services & Choice Extracts, was born in 1990. John went to school in Kalamazoo, MI to study business and marketing through the food and consumer packaged goods program at Western Michigan University.  He began growing in cornfields in local areas at a young age. In 2008 he began growing medically when the statutes changed.  John’s very first strain was Stargazer which he originally was gifted the genetics from some close friends.  He then transferred to a small indoor grow to support a Medical Dispensary, but that operation was shuttered in 2009.  The less than hospitable environment of Michigan and cannabis legalization and the supportive laws that came along with that were the main reasons for John’s exodus to Alaska in 2016.

John Guest’s History in Cannabis

His cannabis growing hobby had soon become his real job as a cultivator, a career path his mother was less than supportive of, but his father gave his blessing.  John purchased property in Houston, Alaska. He started a 6,000 square foot standard cultivation with a perpetual harvest.  John mainly uses coconut coir, a drain to waste setup, and an irrigation system to produce the high-quality cannabis. Connoisseurs have come to expect this quality from Guest Services through repeated results.

He decided to vertically integrate to showcase his growing knowledge in the cannabis space, starting Choice Extracts in 2019. This coincides perfectly with his preferred consumption of method.  Choice Extracts offers a facility to strain hunt and vet new phenotypes. He is currently growing 8 cannabis strains, but he is most famous for Lemon Ice Pucker!  Keep an eye out for Guest Services & Choice Extracts on the shelves of Bad Gramm3r and our Palmer, AK location!  Stay lifted!
